Rome Career Center
Responding to the announced layoff of over 400 employees, the Rome Department of Labor Career Center opened a career resource center on-site at Galey & Lord in Rome. The resource center was opened to help employees find other positions, access training opportunities, etc. Many community resources were coordinated through the center.
The Rome office also coordinated two job fairs prior to the layoff where local employers were invited to spend the afternoon recruiting, interviewing, and accepting applications for their businesses. In addition, the Career Center sponsored several "Lunch and Learns" that included resume preparation, job seeking skills, etc. As a result of the coordinated efforts, over 50 employees were able to find positions prior to the official layoff date. The Career Center Manager, Mark Ezzell, can be reached at 706.295.6145 or Mark.Ezzell@dol.state.ga.us.
