One Stop Shop

The Career Resource Center One-Stop Shop is a collaborative effort between Appalachian Technical College and the community. Our goal is to assist individuals in reaching their educational and employment goals. The One-Stop Shop is available for students and members of the community.

Community Resources

  • Pickens County Department of Family and Children Services-Assistance to needy families or individuals that have no or low income with temporary support assistance through food stamps, Medicaid, child care, temporary assistance to needy families and child support enforcement.

  • Vocational Rehabilitation

  • Family Connections
  • Goodwill Industries of North Georgia
  • Cherokee Family Violence Center
  • Georgia Department of Labor-A representative is available in the Career Resource Center weekly. Call and schedule an appointment!

Appalachian Tech Programs and Services

  • New Connections to Work
    • CAREERSCOPE-A computerized career assessment tool to provide suitable career options. This assessment is free as a community service.
    • Resume preparation
    • PLATO-Scholastic and remedial computer based training programs including life skills, parenting skills, and job search skills.
    • Provides support services and increased access to Appalachian Tech and employment
    • Counseling
    • Life Skills Training & Workshops-Includes money management, stress management, study skills, attitude, basic work skills, motivation, and survival skills for women.
  • Georgia Fatherhood Program-Assists non-custodial parents who are unemployed, at risk of losing their job, and/or behind on child support payments to reach their personal goals.
    • Vocation/Life/Parenting Skills
    • Training Assistance
    • Legal Rights and Responsibilities Training
    • Survival Skills for Men
  • WIA (Workforce Investment Act)
