Northwest Georgia’s High Demand Career Initiative (HDCI) engages businesses and informs workforce development efforts in advanced manufacturing through an employer-led sector partnership. The goal of the Northwest Georgia HDCI is to build an infrastructure of communication between public and private sectors in order to identify and align the in-demand talent needs of industry to education and training programs in the region. This alignment will help to create a sustainable pipeline of qualified workers for the advanced manufacturing industry.

If you have any questions about HDCI or ideas for manufacturing education in the region, please contact project manager Leigh Hopkins at leigh.hopkins@gatech.edu or Terri Morgan at tmorgan@nwgrc.org.

For general information about the Governor’s statewide HDCI initiative and sector partnerships, please visit the HDCI page on the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s website.

The Northwest Georgia Workforce Development Board recently completed a sector partnership strategy as part of the Governor's High Demand Career Initiative (HDCI) program, an effort led by Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute.  Governor Deal launched HDCI in 2014 as a response to hearing from businesses in  Georgia about their workforce development challenges.  To implement workforce solutions at the local and regional level, the state supported the development of regional sector partnerships through local workforce boards. With the support and guidance from many of you, the Northwest Georgia region spent the past year developing a sector strategy that built an infrastructure of communication and collaboration between the public and private sector.  The resulting regional sector partnership was branded as "iWorks" (Igniting Workforce Opportunities & Reinforcing Knowledge & Skills).

Over the next several months, we will be working with iWorks to implement the strategy.  You have been identified as a critical partner in the launch of iWorks and the successful implementation of the strategy.  We are holding a kick-off meeting for the strategy's implementation at 12pm on October 24th at the Gordon County Agricultural Center, can we count on you to attend?  Lunch will be provided.  Please click HERE to RSVP.
