What is Head Start? | ?Que es Head Start? | Head Start Programs in Northwest Georgia | Other Resources Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families. The Head Start program is operated by local non-profit organizations in almost every county in the country. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive free medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting. Head Start provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Head Start staff recognize that, as parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your children. They will welcome your involvement in Head Start activities and will work as partners with you to help your child progress. Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Most children in Head Start are between the ages of three and five years old. Services are also available to infants and toddlers in selected sites. Check with your local office to find out what services are offered in your area.
Head Start es un programa federal para ninos de edad preescolar que pertenecen a familias de bajos ingresos. El programa Head Start esta a cargo de organizaciones locales sin fines de lucro en casi todos los condados del pais. Los ninos que asisten a Head Start participan en uan variedad de actividades educacionales. Reciben tambien atencion medica y dental gratuita, comidas y refrigerios nutritivos, y juegan bajo techo y al aire libre en un medio seguro. Head Start ofrece a los ninos actividades que les ayudan a desarrollarse mental, social, emocional y fisicamente. El personal de Head Start reconoce que, como padres, ustedes son los primeros y los mas importantes maestros de sus hijos. Dicho personal aceptara con agrado su participacion en las actividades de Head Start, y trabajara en asociacion con ustedes para ayudar a su hijo a progresar. Head Start ayuda a que todos los ninos tengan exito. Se ofrecen servicios para atender las necesidades especiales de ninos con imprdimentos. La mayoria de los ninos que participan en Head Start tienen de tres a cinco anos de edad. En algunos lugares tambien se ofrecen servicios para bebes y ninos pequenos.
