Patients in Need Program: some pharmaceutical companies have announced a program which will provide prescription drugs to poor people at no charge. The program is intended to help those in most need who have fallen through the safety net of other programs and cannot afford medications. Each company has individual criteria to determine need. Information on which medications are available from the various programs can be obtained by calling 1-800-PMA-INFO. PeachCare for Kids, a Georgia state-run insurance program. The program is $7.50 per child. Children 6 and under are free. A family pays no more than $15 per month. It provides routine care, eye and dental care, pharmacy coverage and hospitalization. Under the new program guidelines, single persons with annual incomes of less than $16,000 and families with annual household incomes of less than $25,000 who have no prescription drug coverage through private insurance or any public assistance program are eligible for Connection to Care. Eligible patients may contact their doctor or health care center or call toll free 800.707.8990 with enrollment questions. Those eligible may receive qualifying Pfizer medications either free or at greatly reduced costs. Pfizer also sponsors Sharing the Care, a program that provides free medicines to needy Americans at community clinics. The Pfizer for Living Share Card makes available any Pfizer prescription for a $15 flat fee to income eligible Medicare enrollees without prescription drug coverage.
