ON-THE-JOB TRAININGThe On-the-Job Training (OJT) program provides reimbursements to employers to help compensate for the costs associated with skills upgrade training and loss of production for newly hired employees.
OJT can assist employers who are looking to expand their business and need additional staff trained with specialized skills. OJT employers may a receive reimbursement of 50 - 75 percent of the wage rate of OJT trainees to help defray personnel training costs. |
eligibility requirements
Employers
Trainees
- Operating in the State of Georgia for at least six months
- Contributing and in full compliance with local, state, and federal tax obligations
- Hiring for full-time positions with a competitive wage.
Trainees
- Unemployed, underemployed, or dislocated from current employer as defined by WIOA and determined to be eligible for WIOA training funds.
THE PROCESS
- Interested Employers should contact an OJT Business Recruiter/Career Counselor for information about the program.
- If the Employer is eligible to participate then an OJT Training Plan for the potential OJT position(s) will be developed with the Business Recruiter/Career Counselor.
- Appropriate applicants to fill the position(s) are obtained by:
- Referral from the OJT staff to the Employer, or
- The Employer refers the applicant to the OJT staff for eligibility determination prior to offering the applicant the job.
- The Employer’s normal hiring procedure will then be followed for the trainees selected as a good fit for the position(s).
- An OJT work-site agreement will be developed for each individual placed into training.
